The recognition of mixed forests as a natural adaptive alternative to reduce global change risks has lead to the creation of the scientific network EuMIXFOR. The action was held in the period from 2012 to 2017. The president of the action was Dr Andrés Bravo-Oviedo, while the role of the deputy president was done by prof. Hans Pretzsch. The main objective of this project is to mobilize and integrate existing scientific knowledge on forest management and decision-making on European forestry, and also to make decisions and adjustments to climate change and mitigation. The project also involved scientists from the Croatian Forest Research Institute (Sanja Perić, PhD and Martina Tijardović, PhD). Their participation contributed to linking and installing new scientific knowledge, exchange of knowledge on mixed forests to improve the sustainable management that is facing the growing challenges in the recent times. Their contribution is evident through coordination of Project tasks and active publishing a number of scientific articals in cooperation with international scientists.
